Welcome to Auntie Jo’s Sleepaway Camp, thank you for visiting our page!
My name is Joanna Pedroncelli. My husband and I adopted a stray shelter dog 8 years ago who came to us with fear issues. In researching how to best to communicate with her, I started to learn about dog behavior and positive training methods and found myself drawn back to the animal shelter to try to bring comfort to other dogs like her.
I became a volunteer dog walker at Sonoma County Animal Services in 2012 where I took the adoptable dogs out for daily walks and eventually trained with the behaviorist to work with dogs who needed extra attention in the behavior modification programs. I realized that I needed to be with dogs as much as I possibly could, so I became a certified dog walker at the Dog*Tec Academy in San Francisco in preparation of starting my own dog walking business. While I worked on building my full-time client base, I was employed at dog daycare and boarding facilities and a veterinary hospital where I kept the facilities clean, fed, administered medications and managed play groups and individual walks and play. Through these experiences, I really got to learn where my greatest happiness and ability lies; in providing dogs the utmost comfort and attention to give them as much joy in their day as I possibly can.
My husband Jon and I relocated in April 2018 from Sonoma County to beautiful Grass Valley to be near Jon’s mom. We also wanted to find a place where we could provide dogs with comfort and their families with peace of mind while they had to spend time apart. We were fortunate enough to have found a beautiful 1.5 acre location in the trees where Auntie Jo’s Sleepaway Camp was born. Give me a call at 707-239-1202 to schedule a tour of our new “digs”, or to discuss any care needs you may have.
Dirk the Dog
I don't want to trust anyone else with my dog, Dirk comes home so happy and relaxed after an outing with Jo. She is reliable, truly loves dogs with all her heart and I can tell how much she cares for my Dirky. Dirk thinks she is the best and he shows it by giving lots of kisses and wags whenever he sees her. The photo updates are the best and always put my mind at ease seeing him relaxed and happy.
Hi guys! My name is Mike Louise Brown and I live at Auntie Jo's Sleepaway Camp because Auntie Jo is my mama. I'm 10 years old and I like to pal around with the senior campers and show them where all the toys and treats are. We can even splash around the kiddie pool if it's hot out or take a nap together on the deck.
Joanna is such a caring person who has a heart of gold when it comes to dogs. My dogs love her so much and my Panda boy can hardly wait until the two of them get out on their walk together. Trust me, she will walk your dog and give them the attention and guidance they need just as if they were her very own dog, and your dog(s) will love her almost as much as they love you! She truly is a wonderful dog person and walker!
